UK robotics startup Humanoid has secured a landmark deployment agreement with Schaeffler AG, marking one of the largest publicly disclosed humanoid robotics rollout projects in the manufacturing industry.

Under the agreement, thousands of wheeled humanoid robots will gradually be introduced across Schaeffler’s production facilities worldwide by 2032. The first deployment phase is scheduled to begin in Germany before the end of 2026, focusing initially on logistics and repetitive material-handling operations.

This collaboration demonstrates how rapidly humanoid robotics is moving from experimental pilot projects into real industrial production environments.

Initial Deployment Focuses on Smart Material Handling

The first operational rollout will take place at Schaeffler facilities in Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt between December 2026 and June 2027. Early-stage applications will primarily involve automated box handling, workflow transportation, and integration testing within live manufacturing lines.

The agreement is expected to involve the delivery of a seven-digit number of actuators for Humanoid’s robotic platforms.

Factories are dynamic environments where product variations, labor availability, and production requirements constantly change. Humanoid robots are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between human flexibility and robotic consistency, especially in areas such as:

  • Internal material transport

  • Machine tending

  • Packaging assistance

  • Warehouse support

  • Flexible assembly operations

The real value of humanoid robotics will emerge in hybrid manufacturing environments where humans, AGVs, cobots, and humanoid systems work together as part of a unified intelligent factory ecosystem.
