ABB SPA-ZC 400EM Ethernet Adapter

Overview

The SPA-ZC 400 is designed to connect REF 541/3/5, REM 543/5, or RET 541/3/5 devices to the IEC 61850-8-1 Station bus. This device facilitates communication in modern substations by supporting the IEC 61850 standard, which is crucial for substation automation and the engineering process.

The SPA-ZC 400 supports GOOSE messaging for fast horizontal communication between Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs). This functionality is essential for the real-time transmission of interlocking and blocking information. In addition, the device offers Ethernet access for IEDs via SPA over TCP/IP and Modbus over TCP/IP.

Optionally, the SPA-ZC 400 also enables dual port communication for fibre-optic SPA and LON®, further enhancing communication flexibility. Detailed installation and programming instructions can be found in the Installation and Commissioning manual.
